Joining a group trip as a solo traveller

You can travel on your own and still share the journey. A solo-friendly group trip brings independently travelling people together on a planned departure. It is different from a private solo itinerary: you will usually follow a shared route and schedule.

Find solo-friendly departures ↗

Start with departures that welcome solo travellers

Use the Solo friendly filter in Explore. This label reflects the listing rather than a guarantee about who will attend. If there are no matching departures, broaden your destination or dates and ask a host whether solo travellers can join.

Ask about the people and the pace

Ask the host how many people are expected, whether other travellers are joining alone, the usual group size, and how much free time the itinerary includes. For hiking or activity trips, discuss the expected fitness level and support.

Understand room sharing and the full price

Confirm whether the quoted price assumes a shared room, how roommates are assigned, whether a private room is available, and whether a single supplement applies. Ask about transport to the meeting point and any meals, tickets or activities charged separately.

Make an informed first booking

Read the itinerary and cancellation terms. Use the host’s public Instagram or WhatsApp contact to confirm the departure, ask for the final price and understand the payment process. For women-only departures, use the Women only filter and confirm eligibility and arrangements with the host.
